Distribution: C and S Pyrenees, mountains of NE Spain; crevices in shade, limestone rocks.

Evergreen perennial 10 cm high, up to 20 cm diameter. Leaves in rosette, ca. 7 cm long. Flowering stems 6-12 cm tall. Flowers 1-6 per stem, 30 mm diameter, flat, deep violet. Fl. late spring, summer.

 

Verbreitung: C und S Pyrenäen, Gebirge von NE Spanien; Spalten in Schatten, Kalkfelsen.

Immergrüne Staude 10 cm hoch, bis zu 20 cm Durchmesser. Blätter in der Rosette, ca. 7 cm lang. Blütenstiele 6-12 cm hoch. Blüten 1-6 pro Stiel, 30 mm Durchmesser, flach, tief violett. Bl. Spätfrühling, Sommer.

Distribution: Pyrenees, Jura, Alps, Apennines, Carpathians, 1300-2970 m above sea level; moist grasslands, stony places, rocky slopes, on limestone. 

Perennial 5-15 cm high. Basal leaves round, 3- or 5-lobed, lobes deeply crenate, green, lustrous. Flowers 2-3, sometimes solitary, 20-25 mm across, white. Fl. IV-VI.

 

Geographische Verbreitung: Pyrenäen, Jura, Alpen, Apennin, Karpaten, 1300-2970 m über dem Meeresspiegel; feuchte Wiesen, steinige, felsige Hänge, auf Kalk.

 

Staude 5-15 cm hoch. Grundblätter rund, 3 - oder 5-lappig, Lappen tief gekerbt, grün, glänzend. Blüten 2-3, manchmal einsam, 20-25 mm breit, weiß. Blütezeit IV-VI.

Distribution: N Italy; limestone soil, northern slopes.

 

Perennial 10-15 cm tall. Stem erect. Leaves in rosette, ovate or rounded, crenate. Flowers solitary or 2-3, white, petals 2-lobed. Fl. V-VI.

Distribution: E Alps, Apennines, E Carpathians, Balkan Peninsula, 1700-2400 m; rocks, damp places.

 

Tufted perennial 10-15 cm tall. Blades of basal leaves rounded, crenate, rarely something 3-lobed. Flowers solitary or 2, 20-25 mm diameter, white. Fl. V-VI.

Distribution: N Europe, south from Sierra Nevada, Through Pyrenees to Alps; moist, acid screes, stony streamsides.

Perennial 10-15 cm tall. Basal leaves rounded, trisect, cut into several lobes. Flowers 1-3, 20-30 mm across, white to pale pink. Fl. V-VI.

Distribution: circumpolar region in Europe and North America. 

Creeping shrublet up to 3-7 cm tall. Leaves to 2 cm long. Flowers red, in catkins. Fl. V.

Distribution: mountains of Europe, Asia and North America, subalpine and alpine level; rocks, alpine grasslands, on limestone.

Shrub up to some cm high. Leaves 1.5-2 cm long, rounded. Cutkins VII-VIII.

 

Geographische Verbreitung: Gebirge von Europa, Asien und Nordamerika; subalpine und alpine Stufe, Felsen, alpine Wiesen, auf Kalkstein.

 

Strauch bis zu einigen cm hoch. Blätter 1,5-2 cm lang, oval bis rundlich. Kätzchen VII-VIII.

Shrublet with long, glabrous, lustrous, prostrate stems and short, branched twigs. Leaves thick, obovate, blade 1-2.5 cm long. Male and female catkins on separate plants. 

Distribution: C and SE Europe, 1800-3200 m above sea level; scree, rocks.

Shrub with procumbens stems 1-2 cm high. Leaves small, spatulate to oval, dark green, lustrous. Catkins cylindrical, appearing after leaves. Flowers yellow. Fl. spring.

 

Geographische Verbreitung: C- und SE-Europa, 1800-3200 m über dem Meeresspiegel; Geröll, Felsen.

 

Strauch mit kriechenden Stämmen, 1-2 cm hoch. Blätter klein, spatelförmig bis oval, dunkelgrün, glänzend. Kätzchen zylindrisch, nach Blätternentwicklung erscheinen. Blüten gelb. Blütezeit Im Frühling.
